Privacy Policy
Next Departure (“Departure” on your Home Screen) collects no personal data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party SDKs, and the developer receives nothing about you.
Location
The app uses your location to show the stop closest to you and to fill the Board with the stops around you, in the app and in its widgets. It asks for your permission first; you can decline or change it at any time in Settings, and the stops you add yourself keep working without it. Your location is matched against a list of Swiss stops built into the app, on your device. It is never sent to the developer, to the timetable service or to anyone else.
Timetable requests
To show departures, the app asks the timetable service of search.ch (search.ch AG, Switzerland) for the connections between two stops. Each request contains only the two stops and the date and time; it contains no location and nothing that identifies you. Like any web server, search.ch receives your device’s IP address with each request and handles it under its own privacy policy.
iCloud
Your stops and boards are synchronized between your devices through your own iCloud account (Apple’s CloudKit private database). This data lives in your iCloud account: the developer cannot see or access it. Deleting a stop in the app removes it from iCloud too.
Data stored on your device
Your stops, the departure times last downloaded and the app’s settings are stored on your device, shared with the app’s widgets and Apple Watch app, and included in your own device backups. Deleting the app removes them from the device.
Crash reports
If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device’s settings, Apple may send the developer anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. They do not identify you.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
